First licensed as KN6DGQ approximately 1953. Licenses expired as Conditional Class in 1973.

Joined Navy in 1955 and retired in 1979 with 21 years of active duty. The last 12 years in the Navy I was an Electronic Technician repairing Navigation Computers on FBM Submarines. Retired from Lawrence Livemore National Laboratory in December 1999. I worked as electronic support for Physics experiments for most of my time at LLNL.

Returned to amateur radio in May of 2010 by passing the Technician Class exam. Passed the General Class exam in July 2010 and the Extra Class on Jan. 8, 2011. I found out that my original call sign was available and applied for it through the vanity call system. It is not a fancy call, but it has always been mine.

I have a Yaesu FT-950 for HF work, a Yaesu FT-2900R and a FT-279 for 2 meter operation.

Antenna is a MFJ 1798 Vertical. I have recently built a 10 meter dipole that work very nice.

I recently joined SKCC and have been assigned SKCC# 8448.

I am spending most of my time on HF in the CW bands. I was taught CW in the Navy and worked CW radio circuits for about 4 years. I last worked CW professionally in 1962. I never lost the code for the the 36 years I was out of ham radio. I still enjoy CW more than phone and have spent most ot the last 4 years building my CW copying speed back to my professional level.

I am a VE and help at tests run by John Litz, NZ6Q. I also am an insturctor in the Elmer Universe headed by John Litz.
